Find Products Faster in Quartzy

Searching and requesting products in Quartzy should always be fast and easy. That’s why earlier this summer we set out to make improvements to the search experience when you add a request for supplies. FarmersEdge-3So far, we’ve received lots of positive feedback about our faster-than-ever, single interface search. “A big plus is being able to use general keywords to support a more  exploratory search,” says Brian Parrish, Lab Manager at Farmers Edge, a digital farming solutions company.

Now when you click on ‘Add Request’, you’ll notice a product keyword search box. You can search using just a keyword or phrase without needing the vendor catalog number handy. From a single panel, you’ll view results from request history, inventory, quartzy shop, and vendor catalog. No need to jump to different tabs looking for an item. The best part? It’s easy to use, saves you time, and it’s already activated in your Quartzy account!

How does it work?

Searching with keywords is simple. Using the new search box will give you more flexibility and options to find what you want. Parrish recently searched for the generic product phrase ‘test tubes’, a frequently purchased item for the lab. While he has his favorite test tubes, he likes to see what’s new from the full results list and do a quick comparison from time to time.

Here are a few more examples of customer keyword searches in Quartzy:
  • Product name + measurement
    • ex. 50 ml centrifuge tube
  • Vendor name + product name
    • ex. celltreat pipet
  • Chemical name + purity
    • ex. sodium chloride 99.5%
  • CAS + unit size
    • ex. 64-17-5   500ml
  • Catalog number only
    • ex. 353263

Once you search, you’ll see a list of items that match your keywords. If you search an item that was previously requested in the lab, you’ll conveniently see this result first for ease of reordering or viewing/adding details, an addition Parrish is pleased about. “I like that it lists my previous purchase right on top; that is the differentiator from simply searching in the Shop.” Next you’ll see items available from the Quartzy Shop. Third will be options from items in your Inventory. Last will be general matches from other vendor catalogs.

When you find what you’re looking for, you can choose to Request the item or Add Details directly from the results.

Can I still search for specific items?

Yes. Like Brian, you may want to find very specific results for some items and can still use the vendor-catalog number lookup to do so. And when you want to have the flexibility to enter any item details, click Use Request Form to enter all details of the request manually.
